PCMag, the leading authority on technology, is looking for #freelance writers to join our team of experts writing product reviews and related buying advice stories for IT decision-makers in small to mid-sized businesses.
Review categories typically entail SaaS packages for business automation, including:
- Customer relationship management (CRM) tools
- Email marketing clients
- Marketing automation tools
- Help desk software
- Video conferencing software
- Business voice-over-IP (VoIP) solutions
- and others, as specified by PCMag editors.
An ideal reviewer will have knowledge and experience in one or more of the above or similar categories (or be willing to develop it). You'll bring that expertise to bear to write thoughtful, detailed reviews with detailed comparisons that help our readers make smart buying decisions. You'll also need to grow relationships with the vendors in the space ensuring that you're in the loop on new releases and the latest product features. (Established relationships with those companies are a strong plus.)
You will work under the supervision and guidance of PCMag editors, who will help you match style and data points that make our class-leading reviews authoritative and distinctive.
PCMag reviews are 100% independent and unbiased. We do not produce reviews based solely on demos, briefings, or vendor walk-throughs. You'll be granted access to a full version of the software or service, and you'll use your expertise to evaluate it on such criteria as value, features, performance, user experience (UX), and more (as appropriate), based on your hands-on experience.
A typical review runs 1,500 to 2,500 words and rates start at $500 per review. Other types of content vary in length and rate. Compensation is negotiable based on relevant experience and complexity of the product/topic you're covering.
Please send inquiries to reviews@pcmag.com.

Study Hall is looking for guest Digest writers to contribute to our weekly newsletter.
We publish stories about media work and journalism, specifically ones that center workers, rather than treating them as an afterthought. The Digest focuses on major news stories in the media world and should feel something like reading the opening few pages of a magazine — fun, informative, quick-reading, and of-the-moment without being too overtly news-y.
We're interested in coverage of media gossip, disability rights, developments in LGBTQ+ media, BIPOC perspectives on the media industry, developments in AI, and tech's role in the changing media industry.
The ideal newsletter will be anchored by a timely lede essay, nothing robust enough to be a report — think in the 500- to 1000-word range — and is followed by an assortment of four to six rubrics of varying lengths and formats that staffers also contribute to.
Subsections might include a link roundup and bulletin of career comings & goings, a brief Q&A, a Twitter-specific slug, a personal slug, and others. We're open to trying out different verticals!
Compensation is $750 per Digest.
